Spied: 2013 BMW 3-Series Wagon

Spy Shots /17 Comments

The word is still out as to whether BMW will bring the new 3-Series Wagon to the U.S.

Wagons are an interesting phenomenon in the U.S. While they sell in great numbers in Europe, the body style that was once the all-American family transport vehicle was replaced years ago by the SUV. Now the crossover segment is moving in rapidly. Still, there's a minority of U.S. buyers willing to opt for the wagon instead of the CUV. Thing is, only a few automakers are still building them, such as the Acura TSX Sport Wagon and the Cadillac CTS Wagon.

And now BMW is busy prepping their upcoming 3-Series Touring (that's European-speak for Wagon). Obviously, it's based off the all-new 2012 3-Series sedan and will likely offer the exact same engine lineup. The question, however, is whether BMW will decide to bring it stateside. Some sources have claimed that BMW might, but only after it has its official European debut. For now, you can check out these latest spy shots of the 3-Series Touring prototype. As you can see, it barely has any camouflage and it's possible to make out the car's overall final design.
