歌手Unveils Most Advanced Air-Cooled Porsche 911 In The World

Last year, renowned Porsche restorer Singer Vehicle Design announced it was partnering withWilliamsAdvanced Engineering to create the ultimate air-cooled Porsche 911. Well, nearly a year aftershowing these renderings, Singer is finally ready to reveals the results of its 'Dynamics and Lightweighting Study' to the public. Currently on display at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the project was commissioned by Porsche enthusiast Scott Blattner. Like all歌手restomods, it's based on a 1990 Porsche 911964.

Blattner wanted to make his964lighter and more powerful, so Singer enlisted a host of technical partners to achieve this. The result is rather special. Under the hood, the964's original 243-hp, 3.6-liter flat-six engine has been extensively modified byWilliams. The displacement has been increased to four liters, and the unit also has four-valve cylinder heads, and dual overhead cams. Total output has increased to 500 hp at 9,000 rpm – we can only imagine the aural assault this generates. Extensive use of magnesium and lightweight materials reduce mass, and Hans Mezger, the designer of Porsche's first flat-six unit, was even enlisted as a technical consultant.

Power is sent through a bespoke six-speed gearbox with a reduced length allowing the engine to be repositioned farther forward to optimize weight distribution. To enhance the aerodynamics,Williamsalso reassessed every surface on the car. Front axle lift has been eliminated thanks to a redesigned front oil-cooler intake and venting along with a new front splitter. The ducktail spoiler has also been optimized to generate more downforce at the rear along with a new roof spoiler. ABS, traction control and electronic stability control systems were calibrated by Bosch, with switchable driving modes and the option to turn off the traction control and stability systems if you're feeling brave.

Williamsdeveloped the car's double wishbone front suspension featuring bespoke adjustable dampers, while Brembo provided the carbon ceramic brakes that make the964suitable for the road and track. Lightweight, monobloc calipers were developed for the study. The car sits on lightweight 18-inch monobloc wheels developed by BBS Motorsport featuring a high-strength aluminum and titanium center-lock mechanism developed byWilliams. They're wrapped in bespoke Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires provided by Michelin. Inside, the restomod features lightweight carbon-fiber Recaro sports seats and a carbon-fiber steering wheel specially developed by Momo.
