Sedan Showdown: Chrysler 200 Vs Kia Optima

Comparison /72 Comments

Both look great inside and out, but is one the better family sedan?

We've been huge fans of the latest Kia Optima since it launched in 2010. Compared to its predecessors, this third-generation model looks outright incredible. It's still hard to believe that it's a Kia. Since its debut, the South Korean automaker has given it some updates in order to keep it fresh and competitive. The Optima remains a sales success that should make any potential Ford Fusion, Honda Accord, or Toyota Camry buyer think twice.

But now there's a new contender in town from an automaker who has everything to prove and just as much to lose. The all-new Chrysler 200 looks fantastic inside and out, and only shares its name with its dull predecessor. Both sedans come standard with four-cylinder engines, but buyers can upgrade to V6s. The 200 also offers a nine-speed automatic gearbox as standard fare. The Optima's best gearbox is a five-speed auto. Yes, the Optima is older, but it's also held its own against those aforementioned rivals. Can the new 200 do the same? Which of these two would you prefer to see in your driveway?
