The builder won the Drag & Drive class at the LS Fest East three years in a row.

While not everyone is a fan ofshoving an LS enginein a Ford, Tyler Baber, who owns aFox Body Mustangtakes pride in his build. Baber got his car when he was just 16, and 14 years later, he is dominating drag strips, including the Drag & Drive class at the LS Fest East.

Baber met up with AutotopiaLA at the festival, giving the presenter a tour of his sacrilegiousMustang, front to back. From completing a quarter-mile in 14.1 seconds a long time ago, the LS-swapped Fox Body Mustang now averages around 7.86 seconds, according to Baber.

一个t the heart of the build is a 6.0-liter LS turbocharged engine rescued from a junkyard. This power unit is coupled with Trick Flow 220 heads, Holley intake manifolds, Brian Tooley racing camshafts, Stainless Works headers, and a Shearer Fabrication intercooler.

The car has yet to be strapped to a dyno, but Baber estimates the engine could produce around 1,300 horsepower at the wheels. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a three-speed Turbo 400 racing transmission and a Team Z Fab nine-inch rear end. Moreover, the rear axle transfers the power to the road via 15" x 12" wheels wrapped in 275/60R15 radial tires.

Despite the long list of modifications, the chassis remains untouched. The old Mustang still has the stock shock towers, firewall, and full-frame rails. But the interior is transformed to go racing, with carbon door panels, a Holley EFI system, a fire extinguisher system, and a full containment seat like the one you would see in anext-gen NASCAR.

Purists may find this build annoying, but this LS-swapped Fox Body Mustang kills it on the drag strip. So much so that this year marks Baber's third consecutive victory in the Drag & Drive class at the LS Fest East. Even better, he can still take the crazy but street-legal build for a spin on the road during the off-season.
