The test car was the mid-spec Taycan GTS capable of 590 horsepower when launch control is activated.

Weight has always been and will always be a huge factor for control and agility, and thedreaded moose testcan help us know how good a car can deliver, especially during emergency situations where this maneuver will be handy.

Independent testing body and publicationkm77put the Porsche Taycan GTS to the test to seehow well a heavy5,077-pound electric vehicle can evade obstacles suddenly appearing on the road.

The GTS is the model's mid-spec model of theTaycanrange. Considered to be theGoldilocks of the lineup,这是50的能力9 horsepower but can max it out to 590 hp when launch control is activated. For this test, the Taycan GTS ran with Pirelli P Zero Elect tires (265/35R21 tires at the front and 305/30R21 tires at the rear).

At 76 km/h (47.2 mph) test - a tad short of the benchmark speed - the Taycan completed it like a child's play. After ramping it up to 78 km/h (48.5 mph), the EV showed a little understeer, but no cones were knocked over.

However, we started to see the EV hit cones when the entry speed was raised to 79 km/h (49.1 mph). At this speed, the weight transferred during cornering was too much for the vehicle to keep together. The lighter and low-slung Porsche sibling, the 718 Boxster, handled this speed like a champ, proving weight can pose safety risks on the road.

Regardless, the test driver thought the Taycan did well in its moose test. He also highlighted the rear axle steering that helped the vehicle produce better results.

Meanwhile, the Taycan GTS also shined during the slalom course of the testers. The driver left the Sport Plus driving mode activated, which adjusted the suspension in the firmest position. In turn, the body roll was said to be non-existent, while the stability control did not act as much.

The time clocked was 21.5 seconds, making the Porsche EV faster than the smaller and lighter Smart #1 Brabus (22.5 seconds) under the publication's tally board. It also ran faster than an electric sedan rival, theMercedes-Benz EQE350+ (23.7 seconds).
