Porsche Macan GTS Takes Center Stage In Tokyo

Lower, faster and more focused, the Macan GTS joins the new wave of Porsche nearly Turbos.

With the reveal of the new Porsche Macan GTS at the Tokyo Motor Show, all of the carmaker's mainstream models now have a GTS option. Slotting in between the Macan S and Turbo, power comes from the same 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 used in the S, but output has been upped to 355 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. The GTS also receives a PDK seven-speed dual clutch automatic box with paddle shifters, as well as Porsche Traction Management, distributing power to the four wheels as required.

Porsche's Active Suspension Management system comes as standard, albeit modified to slam the Macan 15 mm closer to the tarmac, a sports exhaust also comes as standard, as do high-performance brakes with optional carbon-ceramics. Porsche says the GTS will sprint from 0-62 mph in 5.0 seconds with the Sport Chrono package (5.2 secs without), and hit a top speed of 160 mph. Visually, the GTS can be differentiated by 20-inch matte black alloys housing red brake calipers, gloss black accents, GTS-badged sports seats, optional LED lights, and a unique red body paint exclusive to all of Porsche's GTS models. The 2017 Porsche Macan GTS will hit US showrooms in March priced from $67,200.
