The electric boat is named the Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom Air.

This year may mark Porsche's75th anniversary of its sports cars, but the Stuttgart-based manufacturer is not just focusing on its road-going, gas-guzzling models. In collaboration with Austrian Frauscher Shipyard, Porsche is designing a sustainable electric boat with the upcomingMacan EVin mind.

Based on the Frauscher 858 Fantom Air, the Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom Air is developed with the technologies from the Volkswagen Group'sPremium Platform Electric(PPE) platform. It will underpin Porsche and Audi electric vehicles (EVs), including the Macan EV and theAudi A6 e-tron.

Porsche's technology package for the electric boat includes a lithium-ion high-voltage battery with a capacity of around 100 kWh, a permanently synchronous electric motor (PSM) of the latest generation, and related power electronics.

Porsche's 800-volt technology will allow the boat to charge at DC fast-charging stations. AC charging is also possible.

Thepowertrain promises to deliver 603 horsepowerin the Porsche Macan EV by translating the EV technology on the road. It will also reportedly churn out over 738 lb-ft of torque in the top configuration. The 800-volt voltage will also enable the all-electric luxury compact crossover to be charged from five to 80 percent in just 25 minutes.

Design-wise, Studio F.A. Porsche is working on the electric boat, creating the steering wheel and the central console with throttle and integrated displays. Meanwhile, the boat's concept sketch above also shows a silhouette of the Macan EV. Call it a teaser if you'd like, but it isn't something we haven't seen in ourprevious sightingsof the electric crossover.

The Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom Air, like our sports cars, offers exceptional performance and luxury experiences," said Lutz Meschke, Deputy Chairman and Member of the Executive Board for Finance and IT at Porsche AG.

The Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom Air and thePorsche Macan EV are slated to come outin 2024. Only 25 exclusive first-edition units of the Porsche electric boat will be produced for the initial plan.
