Pontiac GTO-Based Aventador Is The Cheapest Way To Get A Lamborghini

Unfortunately, this replica isn't going to fool anyone.

Most of us dream of owning a Lamborghini, but these pricey exotic steeds are out of reach for most. However, that didn't stop one individual from transforming his 2006 Pontiac GTO into a replicaAventador．

From afar, the faux Lambo could perhaps fool one or two passersby. But the illusion quickly crumbles as you soak in the details. While the replica nails the Aventador's wedge-like shape, the proportions are wrong. It looks like a bigger version of theride-on cars popular with small kids．

Finished in a tasteful shade of red, the vehicle wears aftermarket alloy wheels, a rear spoiler, and scissor doors. Powering the Lamborghini is a 6.0-liter LS2 V8, which produced 400 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque when new. This motor was introduced on the GTO for model years 2005 and 2006 but was also used in theCorvetteC6 and several other GM offerings.

Speaking of the lusty V8, we suspect the Lamborghini replica has retained its front-mounted engine configuration. However, the vehicle's rear boasts what appears to be a recreation of a Lamborghini V12, replete with engine cover, markings, and various ancillaries.

Sadly, there are no dedicated interior photos, but the cabin has seen its fair share of alterations. The seats, for example, have been retrimmed in red and black leather, complete with the Lamborghini badge. The center console and the area between the two seats have a red finish matching the exterior color. Additional Lamborghini badging can be found in the cabin.

It's easy to judge a project like this. While it may not be to everyone's tastes, it takes a healthy dose of skill and talent to transform a car in such a way, and we admire that.

And if you admire the car, you will be interested to know it's for sale onFacebook Marketplace．At $35,000, it's far cheaper than a real Aventador, but that won't matter much to buyers. We're guessing most enthusiasts would much prefer an untouched GTO, and with good ones selling for less than $20,000, that's sure to be the more sensible buy. That being said, someone will come along and purchase this. It's simply an acquired taste.

While it's certainly eye-catching, it's not the wackiest Lamborghini replica we've seen. Last year, we spotted a Toyota Supra that someone decided totransform into a Reventon unsuccessfully．Then again, some individuals create spectacular replicas, such asthis Acura NSX-based example．Perhaps our favorite replicas are the ones that don't take themselves seriously, like the Smart ForTwomasquerading as a Gallardo．
