One of the wild concepts is even made for the moon.

Toyota has prepared exciting road-going EV concepts for the 2023 Japan Mobility Show, such as a potentialFord Maverick fighter called EPU. To make things more interesting, the automaker will diversify the lineup with wild electric mobility concepts that should bring new levels of excitement to eventgoers.

Chief among these is the so-called Neo Steer. While it looks like something similar to theyoke steering wheel option from Tesla, the Neo Steer offers more than just a neat design. The steering wheel - based on motorcycle handlebars - integrates the functions of the accelerator and brake pedals, leaving more space for the driver's legs.

If that doesn't sound crazy enough, Toyota will unveil a concept designed to be used "on the moon and in outer space." Dubbed Space Mobility, the buggy-looking prototype has an electric motor on each wheel, providing better traction in unpredictable extraterrestrial environments. Toyota claims the concept can navigate boulders up to 20 inches tall and climb steep 25-degree slopes.

However, this isn't the first time Space Mobility has been uncovered. Last year, Toyota demonstrated the prototype's capabilities, including a four-wheel steering similar to thecrabwalk of the GMC Hummer EV. This joins theLunar Cruiserin the brand's peculiar yet interesting outer space portfolio.

Next is the JUU, an electric wheelchair designed to offer "the freedom to travel anywhere unassisted." The JUU can climb steps up to 6.3 inches using electric motors in road-going cars. Fellow Japanese brand Suzuki will also bring a motorized wheelchair at the auto show, albeit on four wheels.

The fourth concept in this category is the Land Hopper. It is a three-wheeled electric personal mobility concept with a foldable design for easier stowing. When on the go, the bicycle has a lean mechanism that allows the front wheels to move up and down. The best part is that the Land Hopper can be ridden by those aged 16 or older, even without a driver's license.

The aforementioned electric mobility concepts will join the likes of theLand Cruiser Se Concept, the highly versatile Kayoibako, and the sexy sports cars and SUV concepts. These showcase Toyota's vision toward future electric mobility despite trailing the EV race with theToyota bZ4X,the sole EV in the current lineup.

The Japan Mobility Show (formerly known as the Tokyo Auto Show) is happening from October 25 to November 5 at the Tokyo Big Sight in Japan.
