New Nissan Micra Previewed By Concept 20-23 Electric Vehicle

Nissan has revealed a brand-new electric concept simply dubbed 'Concept 20-23' to mark its European design studio's 20th anniversary. The "sporty, urban EV concept" was designed to celebrate Nissan Design Europe (NDE) opening its doors in Paddington, London back in 2003.

Very little information was provided about the Concept 20-23, but it looks superb. The concept takes the shape of a sub-compact hatchback, not unlike the Micra. For our US readers, the Micra is a small hatchback model similar to the Versa, a car thatmay be discontinued soon.

Nissan has19 EVs on the way by 2030, including two that have been confirmed for Europe, one of which will be a successor to the Micra that could be inspired by this concept. The other EV is still unconfirmed, but it will be built at Nissan's Sunderland plant as part of the one billion euro EV36Zero project.

In the US, two new EVs will bebuilt at its Mississippi plant. We suspect one will be the new Maxima, while the other will come from Infiniti. As of now, theNissan Ariyaand Leaf are the brand's only EVs.

By 2030, the Japanese automaker says it plans to use cobalt-free technology to reduce EV battery costs by 65%. By 2028, Nissan will launch an EV with all-solid-state batteries (ASSB), bringing battery costs down to $75 per kWh and then to $65 per kWh by the end of the decade.
