New MG Cyberster Electric Roadster Coming With Yoke Steering Wheel

British automaker MG wants to pull off the (almost) impossible by developing a lightweight, fun-to-drive roadster that runs on electric power alone. It's a tough ask considering the weight of battery packs, but the electric MG Cyberster is happening. We saw it in somefuturistic design sketchesback in 2020, and it was no less jaw-dropping whenrevealed in concept format the Auto Shanghai Show last year. WithLamborghini-like scissor doors, MG has now teased what looks to be the production-bound Cyberster in a new video. Not only do those doors appear to make it onto the production model, but there are several other surprises too.

We hope that the Cyberster is more up to date than the teaser video itself, which was shared in 240p resolution. Nevertheless, the somewhat grainy footage showed that the Cyberster will have a fabric roof that folds electrically, quite substantial overhangs with a long, tapering nose, and a restrained ducktail-type rear spoiler. The rear lighting signature - inspired by the Union Jack and linking the MG to its British heritage - is one of the most dramatic features, along with those upward-swinging doors. This particular model was finished in an attractive red with glossy black detailing on the wheels and vents.
