New Hyundai Grandeur Sedan Looks Posh Enough To Be A Genesis

Reveal /20 Comments

It merges futuristic elements with contemporary lines to create a unique luxury sedan image.

South Korean brands Hyundai and Kia have been come up with someextremely appealing designs of lateas they embrace the age of electrification. If this all-new seventh-generation Hyundai Grandeur is anything to go by, the relatively young automaking region doesn't show any signs of slowing down.

What we have here is merely a preview of the design, so there aren't any specifications to go by. For the seventh-generation Grandeur, known in markets outside of Korea as the Azera, the brand decided to maintain a bold approach that adheres to its current design philosophy. Considering that theAzera departed the US marketa few years ago and that we have the flagship Genesis brand to cater to the luxury segment, there's little chance that we'll ever see the new Grandeur on our roads.

Compared to itsfirst-ever iteration of the sedanproduced in 1986, which was essentially a rebadged Mitsubishi Debonair, the model we see here certainly is a product that isn't afraid to translate individuality rather than take on common design cues being executed by other manufacturers. A slim LED bar acts as the headlight while fog light clusters are located on either end of the parametric jewel grille.

The glimpse that we get of the rear shows that the LED lightbar will be applied through the trunk lid and is complemented by silver trimmings and a lengthy reflector on the lower bumper. Large two-tone silver and black super-spoke alloy wheels are found below the flush retractable door handles. A black B-pillar and C-pillar with a receding cowl point are applied to create the illusion of a large glasshouse and accentuate the interior space.

We are also treated to a view of the stunning interior. Hyundai explains that it has been designed to be clean and comfortable with a traditional Korean aesthetic while catering to those with busy lifestyles. Interior space is created with a wrap-around design that can be seen in current models such as theGenesis G90while materials will be premium and sustainable. As you can expect, technological innovation is abundantthroughout the design.

Ambient mood lighting will be a highlight of the cabin as it spreads from the door trims to the front of the dashboard. An interactive lighting system will also be found on the upper right of the display unit. For the steering wheel, we'll see a design that is inspired by the first-generation model's single-spoke unit with rearranged multifunction controls. The gear selector has also been moved to the steering unit to create a cleaner center console with more storage space.

More details about this stylish sedan and what powers it will likely be shared soon. Unfortunately, Americans are unlikely to be able to enjoy Hyundai's stunning return to form in this segment.
