New BMW 2 Series Looks Hot With M Performance Parts

There sure are a lot of upgrades.

BMW's design choices of late haven't gone down well with everyone, but to be fair, most of its cars have looked controversial ever since Chris Bangle was in charge of design. Bar the 8 Series, there aren't really many BMWs that you look at and can fall in love with instantly.

Nevertheless, the automaker has been offeringM Performance partsas usual, and these do help make the styling of new Bimmers a little more palatable. After teasing the parts availablefor the 4 Series Gran Coupe, it's now the turn of the all-newBMW 2 Seriesto get a little lipstick and mascara. As with the previous M Performance offerings, carbon fiber is the favored material. Starting at the front, BMW is offering a new front spoiler and kidney grilles, as well as decals for the hood and profile.

New carbon mirror caps are available in two designs, with the former simply a replacement cap and the latter styled like what you'd see on an M3. We also see three new wheel designs, two of which are 20-inch wheels in a two-tone diamond-cut finish or a matte black finish, and one 18-inch option in black. Behind these, bigger brakes with dimpled and slotted rotors and massive red calipers can be fitted.

Continuing down the side of the car, winglets have been added to the rocker panels. Working our way to the rear, we see that the chrome badges have been swapped for gloss black items and the taillights have also been tinted. A carbon trunk lid spoiler is offered along with a carbon faux diffuser for the lower part of the bumper. What about the interior?

New M Performance seats trimmed with carbon fiber and Alcantara are available, as is a steering wheel with a red center marker. A new armrest is offered too, along with a new gear-lever, carbon interior trim accents, aluminum pedals, new floor mats, carbon door sills, and an M Performance puddle light in each door. BMW is also offering door lock stems with the M logo, but we find these extremely cheap-looking and would certainly skip past these.

Fortunately, there are other things you can spend your cash on like an Alcantara-clad key cover or a carbon fiber fuel filler cap. More parts than ever are now being offered to make your Bimmer stand out, but if you go the whole hog, we're not sure that a fully-loaded 2 Series remainsa performance bargain.
