Teaser /1 Comment

The covers are starting to come off the all-new Mercedes GLE crossover.

Now that theelectric EQC has been revealed, the teaser campaign for theall-new 2019 Mercedes GLE crossoveris underway. Shown in a brief video on social media, our first official look at the crossover's exterior focuses on the revamped front fascia, which features a single-bar grille flanked by new headlights with LED running lights.

No new information has been revealed to accompany the teaser, but thanks to recent spy shots of an uncamouflaged prototype we know that the 2019 Mercedes GLE will have evolutionary design changes to avoid alienating fans of the current model. Keeping it in line with current models, the new GLE will adopt Mercedes' 'Sensual Purity' design philosophy, resulting in a much cleaner aesthetic with less visible creases. The rear has also been redesigned with sleek taillights and a dual exhaust system.

While the exterior won't look drastically different, the new Mercedes GLE's interior hasbeen given a major overhaul with more luxurious materials and more modern technology. It's a welcome update since the current GLE's cabin looks woefully dated. Like the facelifted S-Class, the new GLE will gain a dual-screen setup featuring a digital instrument cluster and new infotainment system. The latter will be updated with米ercedes' MBUX infotainment systemwith intelligent AI that has natural language voice recognition support.

米ercedes hasn't mentioned any engine options yet, but the new GLE is expected to use Mercedes' turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six and an electric motor paired with all-wheel drive and a nine-speed automatic. There will also be a flagship AMG GLE 63 model with a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8, and hybrid variants are expected to join the lineup in the future. The 2019 Mercedes GLE is expected to make its world debut at the Paris Auto Show in October, but the teaser suggests an online reveal could be imminent.
