Manhart's Tesla Model 3 Is A Rapid And Stylish EV

Electric Vehicles /9 Comments

The TM3 510 is based on the Model 3 Performance.

There was once a time when seeing a Tesla was an occasion. Electric vehicles were somewhat of a novelty, and Musk's slick-looking EVs were a symbol of the future. Fast forward a couple of years, and the more affordableModel 3and Model Y are on every street corner - in some parts of the country, at least.

年代o, what do you do if you want to retain your Tesla but still want to stand out from the crowd? You turn to a tuner, of course. ADRO, for example, will fit your Model 3 with a ratherracy-looking carbon fiber body kitthat lends the demure sedan plenty of aggression. But if you're looking for something a little more subtle, Manhart Performance has the solution.

One wouldn'tdescribe Manhart's creations as subtle, but the TM3 510 is surprisingly discreet. The black-painted Model 3 Performance seen below boasts a carbon fiber front spoiler that, paired with the 21-inch Barracuda wheels, lends the EV an athletic look. This display model has Platinum Grey rims, but Manhart notes other colors can be chosen.

It wouldn't be a Manhart creation without decals but thankfully the company's signature gold finish is nowhere to be seen. Matte grey and red stripes uplift the black paintwork, but we're guessing buyers can elect to remove them. The least successful change has to be the faux honeycomb mesh grille. It's not too bad from afar, but it looks rather cheap up close.

Aside from that, not much has changed. 235/30R21 wheels and H&R lowering springs give the Model 3 a menacing stance, but Manhart makes no mention of performance-enhancing modifications. That's no concern though, as the Performance variant is already a quick car - 0 to 60 mph is dispatched in 3.1 seconds. The top speed is limited to 162 mph.

年代trangely, Manhart Performance hasn't upgraded the interior and that's a shame. While the cabin is a masterclass in minimalist design, it could do with a healthy dose of premium materials. Tesla doesn't do genuine leather; the company opts to use vegan upholstery which has itsfair share of quality issues.

Thankfully, prospective buyers can opt to upgrade the cabin upon request. It's interesting to see companies shift over to electric vehicles. While it's difficult to improve performance, there's an opportunity for tuners to customize the exterior and improve the cabins.

Brabus, for example, recently turned its handto the Porsche Taycan Turbo S. Specially designed carbon fiber exterior elements not only give the electric sedan a sportier look, but improve stability by reducing lift at the front and rear. We've seen the Bottrop-based tuner do thesame thing with the Mercedes EQS. Interestingly, the enhancements improved the driving range by around 7%.
