Low-Mileage Honda S2000 Club Racer Selling For Porsche Money

For Sale /5 Comments

This is one rare roadster.

Aside from theCivic Type R, Honda's lineup of passenger vehicles is sorely lacking in exciting performance cars. This wasn't always the case. Not that long ago, the Japanese brand would be able to sell you the S2000, a no-frills roadster designed to put a smile on your face. Rumors suggesta successor is on the waybut, with Hondapivoting towards electromobility, it's unlikely it will be ICE-powered.

Happily, there are several well-preserved and looked after models on the second-hand market. But we're guessing none of them are quite as special as this Rio Yellow Pearl example we found while perusingBring A Trailer. Not only is this 2009 S2000 a rare Club Racer derivative (only 699 were ever made), but it also boasts extremely low mileage. Since rolling off the production line, it's covered a mere 123 miles.

Setting this scarce specimen apart from lesser models are model-specific features such as stiffer springs, a rear chassis brace, aerodynamic enhancements, and anti-roll bars. The brightly colored paintwork suits the character of the car well and pairs nicely with the 17-inch five-spoke wheels. The rear wing may not be to everyone's taste but it does, at least, serve a function.

As a more performance-focused variant, the Club Racer also receives a quicker steering ratio compared to standard S2000s. The 2.2-liter inline-four VTEC motor produces 237 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque which allows the roadster to hit 60 mph in a little over six seconds; not breathtakingly fast, but more than enough for a well-balanced sports car. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox.

Inside, the demure black interior is enlivened by yellow inserts on the Alcantara-trimmed seats. Elsewhere, it's typical S2000. A minimalist dashboard houses cruise control, air conditioning, and a CD player. The aluminum gear knob adds some excitement to the mix.

This isn't the first low-mileage S2000 to surface on our radar in recent weeks. With 822 miles on the clock, an exotic car dealer listed a2009 model for a startling $149,995——换句话说,保时捷911卡雷拉S money. In comparison, this Club Racer is shaping up to be a bargain. With nine days to go, the current bid on this limited edition Honda sits at $82,123.

While that price will certainly shoot up in the coming week, the high price can be excused when you consider the exceptional condition and rarity. The low mileage will appeal to collectors but we hope the new owner gets out on the road and enjoys this car in the way Honda intended it to be. Amazingly, this Club Racer isn't the lowest mileage S2000 we've seen. In 2020, a Honda aficionado listed her S2000 for sale withjust 34 miles on the clock.
