Lotus' special logo will commemorate the occasion as celebrations begin.

Lotus is gearing up for its massive 75th anniversary. Back in 1948, a youngColin Chapmanbegan work on thefirst ever Lotus, and the brand intends to commemorate its genesis with a series of "exciting global events and initiatives." The brand says it will look back on the cars that made it, the seven-plus decades of work, and its own successes.

It goes without saying that without Chapman's now-famous Lotus Mark I, theLotus Evijawould not exist today. The brand's celebrations will also be looking forward to the next 25 years of Lotus, with a specific focus on the company's expansion.

Kicking things off, Lotus has unveiled the above image. This 75th-anniversary branding will be seen across the brand for the next year, and we're sure some anniversary models will bear the badge, just as BMW did for the50th anniversary of M.

Matt Windle, Group Vice-President and Managing Director of Lotus Cars, said "Lotus of 2023 is a world away from a garage in north London, thanks to the billions being invested in our company on product development, an electrified future, and more. We've come a long way since moving to our iconic home in Norfolk in 1966."

It is very clear that much of Lotus' anniversary celebrations will look forward as much as they do back. Lotus has had a recent influx of cash, which directly resulted in the Eletre SUV, under its Chinese owners. Geely also owns Volvo and Volvo performance brand Polestar.

Today we have engineering facilities in the UK, Germany, and China; design studios in Hethel, Coventry, and Shanghai; and new world-class manufacturing bases in Norfolk and China. It's at the last of these that assembly of the first Lotus lifestyle car - the Eletre Hyper-SUV - begins later this month," Windle concluded.
