Lotus Giving Discontinued Sports Cars Something Special

The Evora, Exige, and Elise now qualify for a special certificate.

Lotus刚刚killed off the Elise, Exige, and Evorasportscars as it prepares to introduce a number of new models that will include theepic Evija hypercar, its newEmirasportscar, and aslew of electric vehiclesthat will include GTs, sports cars, and even an SUV. But just because Lotus is already looking to the future does not mean that it has forgotten about the cars that brought it to its current position in the market.

As a result, the recently discontinued sportscars are now gaining access to a bespoke Certificate of Provenance (CoP) pack program tailored to them for the first time. This is instead of the generic Lotus CoP.

The program was first launched in August 2020, and now it has been updated for 2022. The program includes a certificate of authenticity printed on premium paper with archive details on your specific build and spec. You also get a plaque and a couple of other collectible items like a bookmark and a keyring, but what makes all these special is the colors that they come along in.

The refresh for 2022 offers new colors and options, including Black and Gold. Just 300 of these will be made at a cost of £199 ($269) each while the regular Green and Yellow offering costs £170 ($229).

Spend £10 (around $13.50) over and above the standard cost and you'll gain access to model-specific CoPs for the Evora, Elise, and Exige. As with other packs, you get the abovementioned niceties and a letter from Lotus managing director Matt Windle, but now with content "linked to the specific model rather than the Lotus brand more broadly."

As reported byPistonHeads, director of aftersales Chris Hinks is very proud of the certificates. "We've been delighted with the success of the Certificate of Provenance program," says Hinks. "Owners worldwide have recognized that the presentation pack adds a stamp of authenticity from Hethel to their vehicle, as well as being a beautiful item that enhances their ownership experience. By launching four new versions - three [of] which are model-specific and the limited-edition Black and Gold pack - we're enhancing that even further."

We're sure that these will help Lotus owners of the future earn a little extra coin when it comes time to move onto a new car.
