Listen To The 900-HP Pagani Huayra R Roar

Last month, Pagani lifted the wraps off theHuayra Tricolore, a new special-edition hypercar inspired by the Italian Air Force. Thanks to its 6.0-liter V12 generating a colossal 840 hp and 811 lb-ft of torque, the Tricolore is the most powerful Huayra yet - but it probably won't be for much longer.

This month, Pagani will reveal the newhardcore Huayra R. Like theZonda Rbefore it, the Huayra R will be a track-only weapon and could serve as a swansong for the ten-year-old Huayra. While we don't have a reveal date yet, Pagani is starting 2021 with a new teaser video previewing the Huayra R's vicious V12 soundtrack while showing the top of the engine cover. You might want to turn your volume up.

Company founder Horacio Pagani has already confirmed the Huayra R will be powered by anaturally aspirated V12 built specifically for this modelunlike the turbocharged Huayra models before it, and it sounds savage in the teaser video.

Reportedly, the bespoke V12 was built in collaboration with motorsport specialists HWA, which also developed the naturally-aspirated 6.3-liter V12 that powers the Apollo IE. In the Apollo, this unit generates 780 hp and 560 lb-ft, but the Huayra R is expected to have over 900 hp and rev to over 9,500 rpm, which will make it the most hardcore and powerfulPagani Huayraever.
