Leaked! Pagani Huayra R Will Have Insanely Powerful V12 Engine

ThePagani Huayrais now over eight years old. Most makes completely redesign their models at least once, oftentimes twice, in that time period. But neither Pagani nor the Huayra plays by those so-called industry rules. Horacio Pagani's first hypercar creation, the Zonda, had an impressive 18-year lifespan. But we know Pagani isplotting an all-electric hypercarthat's expected to arrive in 2024. Does this mean the Huayra is nearly done? Yes, as its combustion-engined successor is due sometime next year.

However, before then a new model will arrive. Mr. Pagani himself revealed thatHuayra R, a successor to the track-only Zonda R, will debut on November 12. What's more, it'll come powered by an AMG-built naturally aspirated V12 made specifically for the vehicle.

But how powerful will it be? TheHuayra Imola's twin-turbo V12, also courtesy of AMG, has 827 horsepower and 811 lb-ft of torque. According to The Supercar Blog, citing "sources close to Pagani," this new NA V12 was built in collaboration with motorsport specialists HWA AG, the same firm that developed theApollo IE's V12, which has a 6.3-liter NA V12 with 780 hp and 560 lb-ft. But the Huayra R's V12 is rumored to make over 900 hp and revs to over 9,500 rpm. It's also said to produce a "diabolic" sound." But again, we want to stress this is information that has yet to be confirmed by Pagani.

Typically, the Italian firm keeps details such as this a closely guarded secret until the day of the reveal.
