limited Edition Lotus Evija Electric Hypercar Celebrates Emerson Fittipaldi And Lotus Type 72

In 1972, Brazilian racer Emerson Fittipaldi took a black and gold Lotus Type 72 to that year's Formula 1 drivers' and constructors' championship titles. 50 years later, Lotus is celebrating that monumental achievement with eight special editions of the world's most powerful production car, the 1,972-horsepowerlotus Evija. Fittipaldi himself was present at the reveal, making this extra special.

like other limited editionspaying tribute to that special F1 season, the Evija gets a gorgeous black and gold livery, but this one is particularly noteworthy because it includes details like a rotary dial on the floating central instrument panel crafted from aluminum recycled from the Type 72 and Fittipaldi's signature on the dashboard in a hand-stitched accent. Oh, and it was test driven byformer F1 World Champion Jenson Button.

The exterior of the all-electric hypercar is hand-painted and includes hidden highlights like a hand-painted plan view of the Type 72 race car etched into the exposed carbon fiber roof. Black and gold 'Type 72' wheels are also worth a closer look, with anodized center lock surrounds that are red on the left side of the car and green on the right. Look closer still, and you'll note the black and gold brake calipers. On the active rear wing, the Type 72's victories from the 1972 season (five of 11 races that year) are referenced in gold decals, while the B-pillar proudly displays the number 8, which Fittipaldi raced with that season. A carbon and gold Lotus badge on the nose completes the exterior highlights.
