The new Mustang has been delighting fans young and old wherever it goes.

A proud owner of a2024 Ford Mustang GTowner, who just acquired his brand new sports coupe a month ago, has turned his car into a Lightning McQueen lookalike.

Andy De La Vega, who also goes by the handle of McQueen Atlanta, envisioned the project as something to spark joy in people. His project started with a sixth-generation Mustang S550, which first made the rounds on social media during the pandemic - the right time for something with the spirit of McQueen to spread positivity.

Months ago, De La Vega moved on to sell the S550 to acquire the S650. He detailed the new Mustang GT's conversion process on Instagram - from its purchase to giving it the well-known livery accurate to the Pixar film. From the side, it gets the recognizable number 95, the lightning and flames graphics, and the "Rust-eze" sponsor decals. It even received a transparent windshield wrap to mimic the "eyes" as seen on Cars franchise characters.

The Mustang's naturally aspirated 480-horsepower V8 is untouched. As a dead-ringer to the animated character, it received a set of lowering springs to get the same low-to-the-ground stance, just like McQueen. Unlike that full-sizeLightning McQueen replicabased on a Toyota Celica, the Mustang still has its stock body panels intact

The Lightning McQueen Mustang GT might look a bit busy in the eyes of an adult or even a car enthusiast. However, the vehicle is quite a hit with kids and the young at heart, so De La Vega is open to taking it to birthday parties and other events.

What this Lightning McQueen Mustang GT needs now is a Sally Carrera - the character's love interest modeled after a 2002 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS. Porsche created a real-life equivalent dubbed the911 Sally Special, but that one is a very special one-off thatsold for a whopping $3.6 millionat auction last year.
