Lexus Builds Yacht To Show Off How Fancy It Is

We don't know who asked for a Lexus yacht, but it's being built anyway.

Last year, Lexusshowed off a concept versionof a new Sport Yacht. High endautomakers such as PorscheandBugatti have dabbledwith building high-priced super yachts, but Lexus said it had no intentions of putting its Sport Yacht Concept into production. We don't know why, but Lexus has changed its mind since then and will now build a production version of the Sport Yacht. Sales are expected to begin in the latter half of 2019 in the US and the spring of 2020 in Japan.

The Lexus Sport Yacht concept was shown off at the Japan International Boat Show where it won a special award. Toyota Executive Vice President Shigeki Tomoyama said "Based on our amazing experiences in engineering, building, testing and showing the Lexus Sport Yacht concept last year, we've decided to take the next bold step of producing an all-new, larger yacht. This will build on the advanced nature of the concept while adding more comfort and living space." Lexus won't build the boat alone, and will instead rely on a partnership with Marquis-Larson: a world renowned boat manufacturer.

The yacht is planned as a 65-foot sport fly-bridge cruiser with luxury staterooms below deck and space to entertain up to 15 guests. Pricing has not been announced, but Lexus will add connected features including security functions, smartphone integration, remote diagnostics, maintenance and other services. As in the concept, the production yacht will be powered by two marine-specification versions of the 5.0-liter V8 found in the RC F, GS F, and LC500. Not only will this yacht be incredibly luxurious, but it should sound fantastic too.
