Lewis Hamilton Meets The Mercedes-AMG One

It could yet prove the fastest car the six-time world champion has ever driven.

Most of us would count ourselves extraordinarily fortunate to get up close and personal with the梅赛德斯amg一– the Silver Star's forthcoming and undoubtedly groundbreaking new hypercar. And we'd likely have a whole lot to say about the experience if we did. But there's one man's opinion that we'd value on the subject more than most others, and that's Lewis Hamilton's.

The British driver was just crowned Formula One World Champion for the sixth time, all of those titles won under Mercedes power (and the past five of them for the factory's own team).

That makes Lewis the winningest champ in F1 history this side of Michael Schumacher, eclipsing the five titles won by Juan Manuel Fangio and the four won each by Alain Prost and Hamilton's own biggest rival, Sebastian Vettel. And he's won 84 grands prix along the way, which also puts him just behind Schumacher's record.

But in addition to being the fastest and most successful driver currently competing, Hamilton's also a bit of a hypercar fanatic. He had Pagani make him aspecial Zonda(with a Mercedes engine of course),got a McLaren P1after winning the title for that team, and has a smattering of Ferraris from his chief rivals (including a red LaFerrari).

He's also been known to drive a few Benzes, of course, and he'll likely be one of the first to take delivery of a new AMG One, once production commences. And when he does, it could very well prove the fastest car he's ever driven, on road or track, street-legal or otherwise.

Mercedes' F1 team is collaborating with AMG on the One's development to positively obliterate our notions of what a road car can do. It'll be powered by an ostensibly modest 1.6-liter V6, but that F1-derived engine will be mated to four electric motors to generate upwards of a thousand horsepower, with cornering speeds that stand to eclipse even Hamilton's race-dominating single-seaters.
