Tesla Chief Designer Franz Von Holzhausen was the one behind the wheel.

一个t the annual electric vehicle (EV) Cars and Coffee event at the Petersen Automotive Museum, Tesla Chief Designer Franz Von Holzhausen made a grand entrance while piloting the latest prototype version of theCybertruck.

The appearance of the highly anticipated Tesla pickup was shared on YouTube, and it shows clearly all the fine little details from its exterior and interior. Based on what we're seeing, this particular Cybertruck looks ready for production, whichmay have secretly startedalready.

一个t the start of the video, we see the electric truck roll into its parking spot, immediately showing off its black electronic cargo bedtonneau coveropening up. A view of the bed itself shows that it might have undergone some cargo-carrying tests as it was a bit dirty.

一个quick peek at the underside revealed a flat underfloor thanks to splash guards and other underbody protection. Meanwhile, a closer look revealed steel wheels with wheel covers, but we think these might be temporary since it's still a pre-production prototype.

Other interesting exterior bits on the Tesla pickup truck include a hidden charging port on the wheel arches, a singular but giant wiper covering the entire sloping windshield, tons of exterior cameras, and its sheet-metal-like exterior finish.

The video likewise shows the insides of the prototype Cybertruck. Its dashboard seems clad in a soft suede-like material, and it again uses theredesigned yoke steering wheelwith a closed-off top end.

The EV automaker also kept the dashboard clutterless; the only control point is a giant touchscreen. It doesn't even have a gauge cluster.

Is this a sign that an actual production version is just around the corner? Tesla says it might beginbuilding Cybertruck units later this year, but we've heard those promises before.

The brand did a crash test of the truck back in April, so that's some progress. But a report last month says that it still has some quality issues. The Texas-based EV maker didn't confirm or deny this, but let's hope that the production version will be refined for the sake of 1.5 millionreservation holders.
