The car gods weep.

People, like crows and ferrets, love to hoard shiny things, but unlike these two animals, human beings aren't that interested in bottle caps and lose change. We like shiny things that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. Things like diamond rings, NFTs of monkeys smoking weed and Lamborghinis are what captures our attention, and when these things get destroyed, we all mourn together, like a parade of Gucci-wearing elephants. There have been numerous cases where exotic supercars have beendestroyed in freak accidents, crashed by idiots, and evencrushed by tyrannical governments. This week, we cover the heartbreaking story of a professional athlete'sLamborghini Aventadorthat met an untimely death in the lofty heights of Beverly Hills.

Those who have played GTA 5 will know how tricky the twisting roads of Rockford Hills can be. This make-believe suburb is based on the real-life Beverly Hills, and is a nightmare to drive in game, especially when you're driving something as unwieldy as a box truck.

In this video posted to YouTube by Pepe's Towing Service we get to see what actually happens when a box truck loses its brakes down the sloping roads of Beverly Hills, and it ain't pretty. The box truck was filled with over 15,000 lbs of goods when it lost its brakes and barreled into the home of an unknown professional athlete. The video shows a $200kMercedes-Maybach Ssnuggled up under the truck, but there's more to the video.

According to the poster, the Maybach came out relatively unscathed, but unfortunately, a Lamborghini Aventador and an unknown Bentley were severely damaged in the accident. A Land Rover Range Rover and a McLaren 570S sit safely in the garage in the background. Once the truck is moved out of the way, you can get a glimpse of the deceased Lambo. Even if this Aventador was a base model, you're still looking at a $400k car, which isn't chump change by any standard. The lesson here is simple: sometimes the car gods will take away your shiny things for no reason, and you just have to live with it. C'est la vie.
