Jay Leno Is Shocked The Cadillac Lyriq Costs Just $60,000

This new Cadillac EV era ushered in by the Lyriq is off to a solid start. The Lyriq has the honor of being Cadillac's first all-electric vehicle, this is a standalone chassis sharing nothing with the gas-burner XT5 and XT6 models... or the Escalade, if that needed to be said.

For now, offered only as a single motor, the Lyriq will have a 500-hp dual-motor offering to compete with Tesla and its Model Y and Model X Performance trims. The Lyriq will have competition from Audi with the e-tron along with the Mercedes-Benz EQE coming soon.

Leno was particularly impressed with the level of luxury the Lyriq possesses. He expected it to come in around $95,000-$110,000 MSRP but was impressed that it only came in at around $59,990. On hand was Bryan Steward, Cadillac Program Engineering Manager who pointed out that at $60K, this SUV is fully loaded,. The Lyriq has thelatest Super Cruiseat that price along with larger 22-inch wheels on the Debut Edition. Stewart added that the Lyriq program to is "paving the way for Cadillac to be all-electric by 2030," and you should all check your calendars because that is 7.5 years away, so get ready.
