Amazon Alexa arrives in the dashboard.

Interacting with your car's infotainment system keeps getting more intuitive. With intelligent voice command, many systems don't even require the driver to press a button. Amazon Alexa is among the best in-car voice control systems we've sampled, requiring no learning curve for anyone who's previously used an Echo device in their home. Now, this outstanding system is coming to Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles.

JLR announced built-in Alexa integration for its entire lineup featuring the latest Pivi Pro infotainment system. This includes vehicles like the facelifted2022 Jaguar F-Paceand the upcoming2023 Land Rover Range Rover, among others. If you're still wondering why this is such a useful feature, JLR created a handy video (included below) to explain.

The feature works exactly like Alexa in your home. Without pressing any buttons, you can say, "Alexa" to control navigation or music, make a phone call, manage your calendar, hear the news, check the weather, and control a smart home. Most of these functions (with the exception of making calls) are available even if you don't have a phone connected. Best of all, Alexa will be added to Pivi Pro via a no-cost over-the-air update. JLR didn't confirm exactly when the update will go out but says that it will benefit more than 200,000 existing customers globally starting this month. Obviously, new models produced from now will also receive the update.

"The seamless integration of Amazon Alexa with our Pivi Pro infotainment system gives customers simple, intuitive voice control of regularly used features, making the driving experience even more enjoyable," said Alex Heslop, Director of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Jaguar Land Rover. "The fact we can also offer this new feature to existing customers proves the value of our software-over-the-air-updates."

Having previously used this feature in various Acura and General Motors vehicles, we can say it is a welcomed addition to the JLR lineup. Most recently, we've seen itadded to JeepsandLamborghinis too, proving that it's beneficial to all sorts of people in all sorts of cars.
