Here's everything you need to know.

We thought it was going to be revealed at Detroit instead of a week after the press days but no matter because here it is: the facelifted 2018 Ford Mustang in all of its glory, just hours after leaked running footage hit the web. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was on hand to introduce the car, and gave one to a lucky and well deserving US military veteran. So what's new? First off, as expected, the 3.7-liter V6 base engine option is a goner, replaced by the familiarturbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder EcoBoost as the new entry-level engine. No hybrid option yet.

The 5.0-liter V8 also remains, but Ford claims it's been thoroughly reworked. Without divulging exact power figures, the V8 is more powerful and revs higher than any previous Mustang GT.

The power boost was achieved by a new dual-fuel, high-pressure direct injection and low-pressure port fuel injection system, delivering robust low-end torque, high rpm power, and improved fuel efficiency. The six-speed manual gearbox also remains for both engines, and it too has been upgraded for optimal torque for the turbo four. But for the V8, Ford says the manual has been redesigned to include a twin-disc clutch and dual-mass flywheel to increase torque capability and deliver more efficient clutch modulation. Cool. What's also new for both engines is a 10-speed automatic, replacing the old six-speed slushbox. Expect to see it deliver higher average power for acceleration, thus improving responsiveness and performance.

它还具有更快的转移时间,更好的低速tip-in response than the previous automatic. The optional Mustang Performance Package now features MagnaRide damper technology to optimize ride and handling. All Mustangs now have new shock absorbers for improved ride control, a new cross-axis joint in the rear suspension for increased lateral stiffness, and innovative stabilizer bars for sharper response and handling. Styling wise, well, it's still up for debate. Some will like the new front look, while others simply won't. Take note of the lower, remodeled hood and grille that Ford says gives the car a leaner look with better aerodynamics. The hood vents have also been re-positioned

Also, for the first time, the Mustang lineup features all-LED front lights including signature lighting, low-beams, turn signals, projector high-beams, and optional fog lamps. The taillights also receive revised LEDs. The front bumper is new, providing an edgier look that, at least for us, will take some getting used to. EcoBoost-powered Mustangs come standard with dual exhaust while all V8 models feature quad-exhaust. Along with dozens of wheel designs, there are some new exterior paint colors, including Orange Fury (pictured here, we presume). Step inside and immediately things look familiar but a closer looks indicates otherwise.

The center console, for example, has a new hand-stitched wrap with contrast stitching and padded knee bolsters. The door handles, rings and bezels are finished in aluminum, while the seats have new patterns and color options. As for the instrument panel, there's an updated Mustang badge, new key fob design, and optional heated steering wheel. Some new tech features are the optional 12-inch all-digital LCD screen that's fully customizable and offers three separate views. Drivers can even personalize the displays for Normal, Sport, and Track modes. Ford's new Sync 3 infotainment and NAV system will also grace the screen with the FordPass smartphone app.

Heck, even the engine note can be adjusted thanks to an also new and optional active valve exhaust system on the Mustang GT. Safety features include Pre-Collision Assist, distance alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist and Driver Alert System. Pricing hasn't been announced but Ford says we can expect to see the facelifted 2018 Mustang lineup arrive in dealerships in the US this fall.
