2020 Mercedes-AMG GLB 35: A Three-Row Pocket Rocket

Earlier this year, Mercedes-Benz revealed the all-newGLB-Class, a miniature G-Wagen with a more diminutive footprint and price tag. We knew it would not be long before anAMG version arrivedand after a brief wait, the GLB 35 has arrived. Like its platform siblings, theA35andCLA 35, the GLB 35 is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder producing 306 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque going out to 4MATIC all-wheel-drive through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The interior gets a new, AMG-specific steering wheel and the sport seats are wrapped in Artico man-made leather and Dinamica microfiber with red stitching and seatbelts. MBUX has also been changed with an AMG-specific flavor on the central screen and gauge cluster. Drivers can choose from three themes including "Classic," "Sporty," or "Supersport," as well as five AMG Dynamic Select drive modes including Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+, and Individual.

A multi-disc clutch with AMG-specific electromechanical control splits the power from the front to the rear wheels, ranging from purely front-wheel-drive to a 50:50 percent distribution. The system can also use braking to keep the wheels from spinning during cornering or acceleration. Underneath, the suspension and steering response have both been tuned by AMG to deliver a sportier driving experience.
