Just 13 Drogo Spiders were ever produced.

An exceptionally rare 1967 Ferrari Dino 206 S will be offered for sale at an RM Sotheby's sealed auction later this month.

With only 18 examples ever made, this model is just one of 13 Drogo Spiders. The Dino 206 S first saw the light of day in 1966, with Ferrari creating it to partake in the FIA's 2.0-liter Group 4 class. The Prancing Horse had hoped to poach customers from Porsche, the favorite of privateer teams at the time.

The V6 engine, a development of Dino Ferrari's (Enzo's late son wholater had a car named after him), provided superb performance on the track, and by the end of the 1966 racing season, the Dino 206 S had proved its worth. It finished in 2nd position at the Targa Florio, 2nd and 3rd at the Nurburgring, and 6th at Spa.

Ferrari originally had plans to build 50 examples, but problems forced the automaker to cap production at just 18.

This particular model, chassis number 32, was delivered to Corrado Ferlaino, a well-known engineer and property developer and, later, owner of the Napoli Football team.

Ferrari historian Marcel Massini dug into the Dino's history and discovered that it raced in several hill climbs between 1966 and 1967. After being serviced by the Ferrari Factory in November 1968, chassis number 32 went on to be owned by several individuals beforerenowned Ferrari collectorPierre Bardinon acquired the vehicle in 1979.

From there, it went on to live in some of the finest collections of Prancing Horse vehicles in the world. Jacques Setton acquired the car in the '80s and then sold the vehicle to a UK-based collector. The car would end up being restored in the United Kingdom in 2003 before making its way to the United States.

2014 saw yet another restoration by the Ferrari factory, where it attained Red Book certification. This confirms the vehicle has its original chassis, engine, and gearbox.

Widely considered to be one of the most beautiful race cars of the 1960s, there's no denying the Dino 206 S has a striking presence. The dainty, sculpted body is exquisite and makes a modern-dayRomalook large and almost dull by comparison.

The auction house has not supplied an estimated selling price, leading us to believe the vehicle will sell for a princely sum. Ferrari's rare racer will sell via an RM Sotheby's sealed auction between 15 - 17 February. The auction house isalso offering a one-of-75Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Stirling Moss for sale.

The Dino 206 S will undoubtedly attract the attention of many collectors, as these vehicles don't come up for sale often. We wouldn't be surprised if it sells for millions of dollars.
