Hyundai Reveals Key Details About Ioniq 6 And 7

Hyundai delivered araft of new detailsabout its all-newIoniq 5hatchback earlier this week. Set to go on sale this fall, the Ioniq 5 will be joined in the coming few years by theIoniq 6andIoniq 7. As part of Hyundai's official Ioniq 5 presentation, it also revealed a few key details about its future siblings.

The Ioniq 6, as we know, was previewed by theProphecy concept, meaning it'll be a slick-looking midsize sedan about the size of a Sonata with four-door coupe styling. It'll be powered by a 73-kWh battery pack and two powertrains will be offered totaling 215 horsepower (with the 160-kW single motor) and 308 hp (with the 230-kW dual-motor).

A 300-mile+ range on a full charge is the target and a reveal in late 2022 is scheduled. Hyundai further confirmed it will replace the aging Ioniq plug-in and EV. The family-focused Ioniq 7 can be compared in size to the midsize SUV Palisade. It will come with three rows of seats for up to seven passengers with optional second-row captain's chairs.

It'll only come with a dual-motor setup, meaning 308 hp as standard. Equally important is that it'll come with a 100-kWh battery pack whereas the Ioniq 5 has a 77-kWh unit. It too will deliver over 300 miles of range on a full charge.
