Here's Your Second Chance To Own A Mitsubishi Lancer Evo Final Edition

In case you missed out the first time.

The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, or simply Evo, continues to be one of the more popular affordable performance cars out there despite being discontinued nearly five years ago. At present, the Japanese automaker has no intention to bring back this rally-inspired sport sedan and longtimeSubaru WRX STIcompetitor, though never say never. Someprevious rumorsclaimed the Evo could be revived as a crossover, but we wouldn't bet serious money on that.

Unfortunately, Mitsubishi remains stuck between a rock and a hard place as the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance has an uncertain future. A few years ago, Mitsubishi was on the brink of collapse until now-former Renault-Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn came to its rescue. Since then, Mitsubishi has used its new financial security wisely by investing in new and relevant product development. TheMitsubishi Eclipse Crossis only the start of new hybrid and hybrid plug-in vehicles.

Thing is, they'll most likely continue to be crossovers and, hopefully, an SUV or two. Sedans like the also discontinued base Lancer are not in the pipeline. Same goes for the Evo. The last of these came out in 2015 and was very appropriately called the Final Edition. Only 1,600 examples were made for the US, all of which based on the GSR trim. Not surprisingly, these cars were in hot demand and all sold out quickly.

One Mitsubishi dealership somehow managed to obtainFinal Edition Evo #001and charged nearly $90,000 for it. The original MSRP was $37,995. For anyone unwilling to pay that staggering price or couldn't get their hands on of the few examples, here's your second chance.

Up for sale on Bring A Trailer is this 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo Final Edition, build No. 1,162. It has just a little over 16,000 miles and is being sold by its original owner.
