Here's What's New On The 2022 Tesla Model S

New lights and a rear bumper give the electric sedan a more modern look.

When it comes to applying updates to its models, Tesla doesn't make a big deal about detailing the highlights and revisions unless it is asoftware-based update. Visually, the cars very rarely change from the original design which is unlike the trends of more conventional manufacturers. Based on some images posted to social media platforms, it appears that the EV manufacturer has applied some updates to its flagship offering for 2022.

New customers took to Twitter to share that their newly deliveredTesla Model Sunits that arrived with visual highlights that are a bit different compared to last year's cars. These changes include new head- and taillights and a slightly sportier rear bumper.

The adaptive LEDs with selective beam functionalities up-front are the most notable addition to the package. You'll need a keen eye to notice the design revision to the taillight which is a bit sharper than the previous cluster, giving it a more advanced and modern presence. While most of the panels have been left untouched, the rear bumper boasts a sportier set of lines and a subtle diffuser applied to the lower part.

Now that the Model S will employ a camera-only driver assistance system, therear radar has been removed. Plaid models also feature a less prominent bespoke badge on the trunk cover. Lastly, the door covering the charge port next to the left taillight has increased in size and does away with the LED ring.

These visual enhancements come shortly after the introduction ofa new Track Modeand increased top speed for the Tesla Model S Plaid. This was introduced via the 2021.44.30 update, which gives the EV sedan the ability to reach 175 mph and deactivate some of its driver assist systems for a more dynamically challenging experience behind the wheel.

The performance of the powertrain was also increased by cranking up the cooling on the heat pump while the torque vectoring and regenerative braking are treated to conclusive improvements. Lastly, the Track Mode function gives the ride a lower ride height with stiffer dampers in a bid to make it sharper and more agile through the corners.
