With a mere 1,500 units ever made, it's not every day that aPolestar 1comes up for sale. Finished in a tasteful color known as Magnesium, this hybrid sports car is currently offered for sale onCars & Bids, where it has attracted plenty of attention. We're not surprised, really, as theplug-in hybrid sports caris a masterclass in Swedish minimalism.

这个2021年模型拥有令人难以置信的低里程、机智h the odometer indicating a mere 1,180 miles on the clock. This is backed up by the as-new condition; the svelte two-door doesn't even have a whisper of wear or tear (save for a scratch on the passenger side front wheel), and the bodywork presents beautifully. The signature Thor's hammer DRLs add that extra bit of drama and form part of the LED headlights.

除了美貌nd rarity, there's something else rather special about this particular example - its previous owner.

As per the seller, this Polestar 1 was allegedly owned byPolestar CEO Thomas Ingenlathhimself. If that's true, Mr. Ingenlath certainly has excellent taste. The glossy paintwork has been paired with black-painted 21-inch wheels, behind which live the Akebono front brakes and yellow-painted calipers.

Inside, Volvo's influence is apparent. Most of the components, switches, and buttons are borrowed from contemporary Volvo products, but that's no bad thing. Despite the fuss-free design, there's a distinct feeling of luxury, thanks to high-quality materials, and all the features one could wish for.

A panoramic glass roof lets light in and gives the impression of more space - a welcome relief if you ever find yourself in the cramped back seat. Carbon fiber trim and leather upholstery add to the high-class feel, aided by the crystal gear knob. Naturally, the seats are power-adjustable and heated, along with the steering wheel.

All the amenities of modern motoring are also present, such as Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility, onboard navigation, and a Bowers & Wilkins sound system.

There's plenty to excite under the hood. What the 2.0-liter four-cylinder lacks in size, it more than makes up for in performance. Coupled with a pair of rear-mounted electric motors, total output is rated at a staggering 619 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via a conventional eight-speed automatic transmission but in a rather unique way.

While the gas engine gets the front wheels moving, the electric motors channel their power to the rear wheels. Despite the immense heft (5,184 lbs, to be exact), the Polestar 1 is adept atflying around a raceway with panache. Were it not for the carbon fiber-reinforced plastic panels, this elegant grand tourer would be a lot heavier.

Plenty of its corner-carving talent comes courtesy of the Ohlins adjustable dampers, allowing drivers to fine-tune the ride and handling characteristics. Lastly, there's a downforce-enhancing retractable spoiler at the rear, which pops up at 62 mph.

At the time of writing, the highest bid for this scarce Swede sits at $83,000. Given that the original sticker price of this model was a hefty $156,500, it sounds like a bargain. But with bidding set to close in under 12 hours, we expect the price to shoot up considerably before the proverbial gavel strikes its final blow.

Many were disappointed when the Polestar 1 went out of production, especially as the automaker moved on to the lovely but mainstreamPolestar 2, a fully-electric crossover. But there's hope for yet another sporty offering, in the form of the gorgeous Polestar 6. The company confirmed the beautiful roadster will be pusheddown the assembly line in 2026.

But if it's the Polestar 1 you crave, here's your chance. Yes, $83,000 is a lot of money, but it seems people would do anything to get their hands on one - even if it means they have topart with a prized art piece.
