Geneva Motor Show Returning To Switzerland In 2024

After several hiccups, Europe's biggest motor show returns.

The Geneva Motor Show will be making a comeback next year, with event organizers confirming the show will return from February 26 to March 3, 2024. Importantly, it has been stressed that this "will not be a mobility show," and the car will be the focus, although exhibits to do with related aspects of cars, such as charging infrastructure and digitalization, will still exist.

One of the oldest and largest auto shows in existence, the Geneva Motor Showhas suffered several setbacksever since the eventwas canceled in 2020due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Theannouncement follows GIMS Qatar, which saw the Geneva Motor Show being hosted in the Middle East earlier this month.

The auto show won't return in the same format, though, with organizers hoping to reduce costs for themselves and the many exhibitors. Event officials want to provide ready-made exhibition stands for automakers and other companies and have reportedly said the Palexpo convention center venue has been fully paid for.

"There is no doubt at all" that the event will go ahead, said show boss Sandro Mesquita. Speaking toAutocar, he added, "It's important to say it is confirmed. The only question will be the size because that will depend on the number [of exhibitors]. But we have enough responses to confirm we can move forward."

Next year's show will have the usual sections focusing on the automotive industry's different aspects. This includes traditional displays for automakers showing off their new cars, electric vehicles, tuned vehicles - modified vehiclesfrom companies like Brabus, Mansory, et cetera - and other car-related products and services.

Themed areas include the "Innovation Pavillion," where exhibitors can showcase their newest technological advancements, and a "Design District" that will focus on, you guessed it, design and aesthetics. Performance lovers will likely make a beeline to the "Adrenaline Zone," where all the newest sports and performance cars will be displayed. Lastly, a "Zero Emission Zone" has been designated for sustainable mobility, like EVs and hydrogen-powered cars.

Event organizers say general tickets will be available in December, but interested organizers can already express their interest.

The Geneva Motor Show has always been one of the most exciting automotive events, but this was in an era when automakers could not show off their latest creations to several million potential customers using nothing more than a camera and an internet connection. That said, there is a certain prestige in showing off while in the immediate company of your peers, and we suspect the attending contingent of major manufacturers will be sizeable.

In the past, the Geneva Auto Show has hosted several important reveals, including theBMW M8竞争,丰田,和大量的优惠pt cars. The show is known for its dramatic supercar reveals but has been a must-attend for every carmaker (big and small) since the inaugural exhibition was held in 1905. Hopefully, everything goes off without hiccups, as the past four years haven't been kind to GIMS.
