Genesis GV80 Production Shuts Down

TheGenesis GV80, the Korean automaker's first-ever luxury SUV, made its official debut back in March, but production hasn't gone smoothly. According to a report by Just Auto, production of the flagship SUV was suspended this week due to a shortage of parts.

Production of theHyundai Palisadehas also been suspended. Many parts manufacturers were forced to close production during the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to shortages. While car manufacturing has resumed at plants around the world after being shut down due to the pandemic, it's clearly going to take a long time before the production plants return to normal operations.

The production suspension of the Genesis GV80 and Hyundai Palisade comes after three of Hyundai's assembly were shut down after a parts supplier employee passed away after they were believed to be infected by the coronavirus disease.

Last week, Kia also halted production at two of its domestic plants after two workers were contracted with the disease. There's more bad news for Genesis GV80 customers too, as deliveries of the diesel-powered GV80 have been suspended due to excessive engine vibrations. Despite these setbacks, the GV80 has been ahuge sales hitfor Genesis.
