It's called the Eluminator.

While theNew York Auto Show was abruptly canceleddue to you-know-what, the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) aftermarket show is still going ahead in Las Vegas this November - at least for now as we're living in unpredictable times. Chevrolet has big plans for the aftermarket show, having recently announced it will be bringing overa dozen custom buildsto this year's SEMA show.

Not to be outdone, Ford Performance has announced it will reveal a new electric crate motor at SEMA this year. Details are scarce, but Ford Performance has confirmed the electric crate motor will be called the Eluminator.

Photos shared by Ford Performance on Twitter also confirm it will be 22.5 inches long, so it should be small enough to fit in a variety ofFord carsand trucks, making it perfect for EV restomod projects based on classic Mustangs and Broncos.

Effectively, the Eluminator will be Ford's answer to Chevrolet's Cruise and Connect eCrate, which utilizes a 60 kWh battery pack and an electric motor from a Chevrolet Bolt EV generating 200 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque. At last year's SEMA, Chevrolet used the Cruise and Connect eCrate to convert a 1977 K5Blazer into an electric SUV. We won't be surprised if Ford showcases the Eluminator with a classic Bronco EV conversion.

We'll have to wait until November to find out how much power Ford's Eluminator crate produces, but it will likely use hardware from the electric米ustang Mach-E.

For reference, the single-motor RWD Mustang Mach-E produces 266 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque. Withcombustion car sale bansbeing enforced within the next few years in some countries, electric retromods are more popular than ever right now to keep classic cars on the road. If you can't wait for Ford's Eluminator crate motor to go on sale, there are plenty of aftermarket companies that will convert your Ford into an EV. Zero Labs, for example, has created a Classic Electric Platform that can convert any classic car into an EV. The platform was used to convert anold Ford Broncointo a fully electric SUVin just 24 hours.
