It's been on the road for only a year and already making a major impact.
The all-electricFord E-Transit在美国和加拿大完全一年前and the Blue Oval is marking the occasion by revealing some interesting pieces of data it's gathered over the past 12 months. To date, owners of the have traveled over 12 million milessince February 2022, saving more than 745,000 gallons of gasoline and over 4.3 kg of C02when compared to the gas-powered Transit van. The available low-roof version of the E-Transit, Ford points out, might have a 57% reduced CO2output versus the combustion-powered van over the course of its lifetime.
The E-Transit is part of Ford's multi-billion dollar electrification strategy to help curb greenhouse gas emissions, but it's also a solid choice for businesses. S&P Global Mobility data has revealed that of the 30 vocations it recognizes, the E-Transit is the top seller in 28, specifically construction, retail, and government.
"Businesses looking to adopt battery electric technology is happening at a global scale, and E-Transit - along with the Ford Pro one-stop shop of software, services and charging solutions - is at the forefront of that revolution," said Ted Cannis, Ford Pro CEO. "In its first year on the road, E-Transit has made an immediate impact, and we are just getting started."
It's the best-selling electric van in not just the US and Canada but also Europe. In the US alone, 6,500 units were sold through last December and it's available in all 50 states. Being the first to market with a mass-produced EV van definitely has its benefits as Ford points out that "roughly 61% of the electric van market today" is represented by the E-Transit.
Its only major rival, at present, is the Mercedes-Benz eSprinter, which wasrevealed last month. Additional rivals are coming in the very near future, mainly the Rivian-built and engineered delivery van that's part of its major deal with Amazon. The E-Transit iscurrently being used by FedEx in a pilot project.
Ford is already preparing for the incoming onslaught by boosting the range of the E-Transit in anunusual way: heating the interior surfaces instead of the usual ventilation system. This reportedly improves range by nearly 10 miles per charge. E-Transit production is also being increased at the Kansas City Assembly Plant beginning in April in order to meet demand.
