Ford Unveils All-New, All-Electric E-Transit Van

Ford says the E-Transit will have access to North America's largest public charging network to help counter the relatively small range figure, but the charging system onboard will also be massively helpful. The onboard Ford Mobile Charger plugs into a normal 120-volt outlet but can also connect to a 240V outlet to charge quicker. Furthermore, DC fast-charging capabilities grant 30 miles of range in just 10 mins and 45 miles range after just 15 mins of charging.

The onboard electrical systems also enable the E-Transit to operate as a mobile generator, with the Pro Power Onboard - tech we expect to feature on theelectric F-150- providing up to 2.4 kW of power for tools and equipment at various job sites.

As for capabilities, Ford hasn't yet confirmed towing capacities, but the brand has said that in the high-roof, extended-wheelbase model, up to 487.3 cubic feet of cargo space is available. The maximum payload of the van is a targeted 3,800 lbs, while cutaway versions increase this figure to 4,290 lbs.

The E-Transit will be loaded with advanced technology to make fleet-life easier, with available features including a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, Ford Telematics, and Ford Data Services. The E-Transit also serves as the launch platform forFord's SYNC 4 infotainment suite在商业vehicles, sporting a 12-inch touchscreen with cloud-enhanced navigation, over-the-air updates, and full smartphone integration.

Ford's Co-Pilot360 safety technologies will keep drivers and cargo safe, too, with lane-keeping assistance, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, speed sign recognition, blind-spot monitoring, a 360-degree camera, and more.

Ford is yet to confirm exact pricing, specifications, and all the details, but the E-Transit will start at an MSRP of under $45,000 for US fleet customers. All models will receive the backing of an eight-year/100,000-mile electric vehicle component warranty, while 645 commercial vehicle centers across the US will be equipped to work on the van. The E-Transit will silently roll out across the streets of the US towards the end of 2021 as a 2022 vehicle and will be a key model in the push towards carbon neutrality for the brand.
