The Blue Oval stuffed two electric motors into an old truck.

We've long said the all-electric vehicle era opens up all kinds of interesting possibilities for automakers. It's also important to remember to have some fun during this transition period. Ford has done exactly that at this year'sSEMA Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. Meet the F-100 Eluminator concept, a zero-emissions truck based on a 1978 F-100 pickup. It's powered by the EV crate motor from Ford Performance Parts that you can buy right now.

The truck features all-wheel drive courtesy of the same two electric motors found in the2021 Mustang Mach-EGT Performance Edition. That means there's a total of 480 horsepower and 634 lb-ft of torque. The Eluminator was built in collaboration with MLe Racecars and rides on a custom chassis developed by Roadster Shop.

Avalanche Gray paint with Cherokee Copper accents adorn the exterior while the interior receives a billet aluminum dash from JJR Fabrication. The seats are covered in avocado-tanned leather. The 19-inch aluminum three-piece wheels wear Michelin Latitude Sport high-performance rubber. "Our F-100 Eluminator concept is a preview of how we're supporting customers as they go all-electric and embrace zero-tailpipe emissions performance, even for our heritage vehicles," said Eric Cin, Ford's global director of vehicle personalization and accessories.

As for the e-crate motor, part No. M-9000-MACH-E, it carries a $3,900 price tag and can be purchased at authorized Ford parts warehouse dealers or the Ford Performance Parts website.

Each motor produces a total of 281 hp and 317 lb-ft of twist. Its main audience is for anyone looking to build a transverse-oriented all-electric powertrain in just about any type of vehicle, whether it's modern or vintage. And yes, it's street-legal in all 50 states. Ford Performance says it's planning to develop a greater list of components for the Eluminator powertrain, such as battery systems, controllers, and traction inverters.

Also at Ford's SEMA display is the 1,400 hp electric Mach-E 1400 demo driven by Vaughn Gittin Jr. during his tire-trashing demonstration outside of the Las Vegas Convention Center, the2022 F-150 Lightning, a Mach-E GT Performance Edition, and three custom Mach-Es, once of which is a prototype from Shelby American.
