Fisker Claims Alaska Will Be The Ferrari Of Pickup Trucks

After three years since the first teaser, the Alaska program is confirmed to become a production model.

The rumored pickup truckFisker teased back in 2020is set to become an actual production model. Fisker CEO Henrik Fisker confirmed the development of the new EV model toAuto Express, saying, "Yes, we are going to do a pickup."

But things got more interesting when Fisker claimed his upcoming model, referred to as the "Alaska" program, would be the Ferrari of the segment. "If Ferrari were to do a pickup, this is what it'd be like," he told the publication. This means the Fisker Alaska will be developed to become the "sportiest of pickups."

From Fisker's statements, we can expect to see the EV startup'sdesign team come upwith a distinctive sporty-looking pickup. It could differ slightly from the rugged off-road appeal of EV pickup rivals such as theHummer EV, Ford F-150 Lightning, and Chevrolet Silverado EV.

Based on the initial teaser photos, the Fisker Alaska has apparent sharp character lines, exuding an aerodynamic look seen in sports cars. While we don't expect the Alaska to look as unconventional as theTesla Cybertruck, we are interested in how the Ferrari reference will pan out once the pickup comes out in the metal.

Despite the sporty persona, the Fisker will carry out practical solutions, possibly using fold-down rear seats and a hidden panel at the back of the cab. Fisker said that the practical features are "really clever." The Alaska is also intended to be the most sustainable EV truck. One of the ways the company plans to do that is by making the truck the "lightest, most efficient" in its class.

No exact launch date has been disclosed, but the Fisker Alaska is expected to expand the brand's portfolio further soon. It will join theFisker Ocean, a midsize crossover thatstarted its deliveries last month. The smaller and more affordable Pear crossover will also be part of thelineup starting in 2025.
