Europe Has A New Performance EV And We Are Jealous

If we can't get the ID.5 GTX, can we at least get this?

Czech carmaker Skoda has just lifted the lid on two new electric offerings. Along with the regular Enyaq Coupe iV is its performance sibling, the vRS. Two battery sizes and four power variants will be made available, with the iV 60 derivative producing 177 horsepower from a 62-kWh battery. A slightly more powerful iV 80 is also available, with 201 hp on tap courtesy of the 82-kWh battery. Both are rear-wheel-driven.

More performance can be found in the iV 80x and RS iV which both feature a second motor on the front axle, giving them the added benefit of all-wheel drive. The former has a total system output of 261 hp while the RS performance model sends a substantial 295 hp and 339 lb-ft of torque to the wheels. This, says Skoda, is enough to send the RS iV to 62 mph in just 6.5 seconds and on toa top speed of 111 mph - faster than other variants of the coupe.

The sleek shape of the new coupe body style gives theEnyaq iV一个令人印象深刻的阻力系数仅为0.234,续ributing to the overall efficiency. The iV 80, for example, can travel up to 338 miles based on WLTP cycle figures. While Skoda has not released figures on the vRS model's range, theVolkswagen iD.5 GTX(on which the Skoda is based) has a claimed range of 296 miles.

希望of appealing to more style-conscious buyers, Skoda is offering the Enyaq Coupe iV with a Sportline derivative. Like the RS iV, it features a sports chassis as standard, sitting 15 millimeters lower at the front and 10 mm lower at the rear. Marking them out as the sportier set is the gloss black trim found on the window trim, rear diffuser, and grille surround. This is extended to the badging as well. 20-inch rims are standard on both models, with customers having the option of upgrading to 21-inch items. A unique Hyper Green shade is exclusive to the vRs.

Inside, the range-topping model can be optioned with the RS Suite Design Selection package. This lends the cabin a touch of performance flair, with black leather-trimmed seats accented by grey piping and contrast stitching. A premium touch is the leatherette dashboard and a multifunction sports steering wheel replete with RS badging.

Other than the sporty touches, the interior is pretty much the same as lesser models. A digital cockpit with a 5.3-inch display and a 13-inch centrally mounted touchscreen give occupants access to the infotainment system and other vehicle functions. Standard dual-zone climate control, keyless start, and a panoramic glass roof are all standard, with buyers able to further enhance their Enyaq Coupe with ten optional packages.

Recent reports state that the brand's follow-up models will be smaller than the Enyaq range with a small sedan (likely to be similar in size to VW's ID.3) and a compact Citigo e-iV replacement on the cards. Even though Skoda's priority is to fill the gap under the Enyaq models, the automaker hasn't ruled out the possibility of introducing a larger SUV similar to the upcomingVolkswagen ID.Buzz.

While it'shighly unlikelythat Skoda and its Enyaq range would ever make it stateside, VW Group fans who want an electric vehicle can, at least, choose the closely relatedVW ID.4 SUV. Hopefully, the Wolfsburg-based brand elects to offer the sportier ID.5 in the US as some sort of compensation for missing out on these cool Czech alternatives.
