Industry News /2 Comments

It last aired an advert at the event in 2015.

Now that the Bavarian manufacturer has a series of new electrified products such as theBMW iXand i4, it may be looking to expand its marketing program. That's exactly why we could be seeing an all-new advert being aired at this year's Super Bowl. As reported byAutomotive News,an insider revealed that the brand had put something special together to punt its new products. However, nothing more than that was confirmed.

The last timeBMW took to the Super Bowl screenwas in 2015 when it wanted to get more exposure on its first fully electric car, the i3. The witty campaign had Bryant Gumbel and Katie Couric talking about the progression of the internet since it was introduced to the world on a mass scale in 1994. The point of the story was to highlight how we will see electric cars in the same way in two decades' time.

BMW reentering the Super Bowl sphere this year makes perfect sense when you consider that, in the American market, it experienced a healthy year of sales in 2021. It was so positive that it saw thebrand besting Mercedes-Benzfor the first time since 2015. The last three months of 2021 were a challenge for the brand but as for the rest of the year, BMW enjoyed a sales increase of 20.8 percent.

Granted, 2020 was badly affected by the pandemic with lockdown restrictions and the ongoing semiconductor shortage. However, the introduction of new products gave the company a strong surge in the region. Where 2022 is concerned, the brand doesn't have any plans to take its foot off the gas pledging that it willdouble the number of EV salesby the end of this year.

Although not officially confirmed for 2022, two upcoming products that BMW fans have their eyes on are the all-new 7 Series, which will include theall-electric i7,as well as the BMW M-exclusive XM SUV. The 7er aims to continue the brand's luxury sedan heritage with large proportions and a plush ride but we can expect this generation to achieve a drastic new look, the likes of which was last seen on the Bangle-designed E65.

The BMW XM will be the M brand's first-ever mass-produced performance car. As you may recall, the fan-favorite M1 was an exclusive run of just 399 road-going units as a supplementary product to its Procar. The XM will introduce M's first-even plug-in hybrid-electric V8 powertrain, from which we can expect an output of 750 horsepower and 737 lb-ft of torque.
