It will share the same platform as the electric Porsche Macan.

The Audi Q4 e-tron is arriving at US dealerships later this year. With a starting price of $45,000, it's evencheaper than the Tesla Model Y. Slotting above the Q4 e-tron will be the sportyQ6 e-tron, Audi's answer to the Tesla Model X, BMW iX, and Mercedes EQE SUV. This will be one of 20 electric models Audi will offer by 2025.

We got ourfirst look at Audi's new Tesla Model X rivalearlier this year, and now an updated prototype has been spotted by our photographers being evaluated at VW Group's Nurburgring test center.

The prototype is still heavily camouflaged, but the Q6 e-tron already looks like a larger version of its Q4 e-tron sibling. Since our last sighting, the production headlights have been fitted, but the rear lights are still provisional. Aggressive air intakes on the front bumper appear to have carried over from thestunning A6 e-tron concept.

We also noticed the prototype appears to have two charging ports with one on each rear fender. Compared to the Q4 e-tron, the Q6 e-tron has a noticeably longer wheelbase, so there should be ample room for rear passengers to stretch their legs.

Even though it's roughly the same length as the Q5, the Q6 e-tron's cabin space will be comparable to a Q7 thanks to the placement of the battery mounted underneath the floor. Underpinning the Q6 e-tron will be the same PPE platform as the upcoming electric Porsche Macan. This platform supports ranges of over 300 miles, 350-kW fast charging, and single or dual electric motor setups. In the Audi A6 e-tron concept, the dual-motor setup produced a combined 469 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque, while the 100 kWh battery offered a range of over 434 miles.

Audi has already confirmed the Q6 e-tron will be available in 2022. Unlike China's Q5 e-tron, the Q6 e-tron will go on sale in the US.
