The stunning EV introduces the brand's new PPE platform.

We knew that Audi was going to reveal something special at this year's Auto Shanghai Show. Teased recently in asingle stunning image, we speculated that it could be something to rival the new Mercedes-Benz EQS EV. Well, the guessing game can come to an end as we now know that Audi's latest EV is called the A6 e-tron concept.

We must admit to being surprised to see the A6 badge on something that looks this charismatic. The regular A6 sedan is a classy affair but it has always come across as rather demure. Besides the badge, Audi says that the A6 e-tron concept's dimensions are all it shares with the normalA6.

The A6 e-tron concept followsthe exciting revealof the 2022 Q4 e-tron and Q4 Sportback e-tron. Of course, there's also the lateste-tron GTfor those who prefer their electric motors to be wrapped in a sleek, low-slung body. The A6 e-tron concept is quite a stunner. It's characterized by short overhangs, big 22-inch wheels, and a sloping rear window that is similar to that seen in Audi's A7 Sportback. The enclosed Singleframe grille immediately distances it from gas-powered Audi models and is flanked by very slim headlights. With a cW value of 0.22, it's as aerodynamic as it appears.

The A6 e-tron concept introduces the brand's latest Premium Platform Electric (PPE) technology platform. Late next year, Audi says that the first production vehicles using PPE will be launched. The high-performance vehicles utilizing PPE will be able to reach 62 mph from rest in less than four seconds and Audi claims a range of over 700 km (435 miles).

This dedicated EV platform sees a 100-kWh battery module positioned between the axles. With this layout, the battery design is flatter, making it compatible with both higher SUVs and vehicles like the A6 e-tron. In this car, there are two electric motors - one on each axle - producing 469 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque.

随着全轮驱动,A6 e-tron概念boasts adaptive dampers and an air suspension. Another feature of PPE is its 800-volt charging architecture, enabling fast charging at up to 270 kW. With only 10 minutes of charging, the vehicle will attain enough power for a range of around 185 miles. The 100-kWh battery can be recharged from five to 80 percent in under 25 minutes. Being an Audi, the interior should be a place of quality and tranquility, so don't expect the A6 e-tron concept to disappoint in this area. It's spacious, too, as PPE lengthens the cabin and this translates into more legroom for occupants. However, Audi has not shared much more information about the interior or any images of it.

The new A6 e-tron concept looks fantastic and is both powerful and efficient. Considering that the PPE platform is scalable - both the wheelbase and the size of the battery can vary from one vehicle to the next - and adaptable to different body styles, Audi seems to be following BMW's lead in having a single platform for many different models. Then again, BMW hasgone one step furtherand is developing a single platform for both ICE and electric vehicles. We'll know more when production versions of PPE-equipped sedans and SUVs start arriving next year. Based on the A6 e-tron concept, there's a lot to look forward to.
