Audi's All-Electric RS6 Sedan Will Be Here Sooner Than You'd Think

Plus, the V8-powered RS6 Avant will get an incredible send-off.

More details about the upcomingAudi RS6e-tron sedan have emerged, withAutocarreporting the performance electric sedan will reach the UK in 2025.

This aligns closely with previousCarBuzzreports, which suggest the EV sports sedanwill reach our shores in 2024. Given that the UK and other European markets generally receive these vehicles first, we wouldn't be surprised if the RS6 e-tron actually arrives in America two years from now.

The RS6 hasn't been sold in a sedan body style for 12 years, with the last iteration offered in the C6/4F generation. Before that, Ingolstadt's star performer was available as a traditional four-door executive car from 2002-2004.

According to the latest report, the RS6 e-tron will reportedly boast up to 600 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque. Earlier claims suggestas much as 800 hp is possible.

Equipped with Audi's signature variable electric Quattro all-wheel drive setup, the RS6 e-tron sedan and wagon duo will reportedly sport a two-speed gearbox, making them very exciting to drive. According to Head of Audi Design Marcus Lichte, the electric RS6 twins will share their basic design with the A6 e-tron but will have a wider track, bigger wheels, and various sporty add-ons.

RS6 and A6 e-tron models will be underpinned by thePremium Platform Electric(PPE) architecture, co-developed by Audi and Porsche. This platform will also be used for the new Q6 e-tron and the upcoming Porsche Macan EV. The high-performance Audi EVs are expected to have an 800-volt electric architecture that will provide charging speeds of 270 kilowatts.

A6 e-tron将use a large 100-kWh battery, so we expect the RS models to use the same sufficiently-sized pack.

But before the RS6 e-tron takes over, the V8-powered model will bow out spectacularly. Reportedly known to Audi insidersas the RS6 GT Avant, this hardcore model will reportedly offer a 19 hp/37 lb-ft increase overthe current RS6 Performance, which is already blessed with healthy outputs of 621 hp and 627 lb-ft.

This will likely be the last-ever combustion-engine vehicle to wear the RS6 badge and should serve as a fitting send-off for the wagon. Those close to the project toldAutocarthat the so-called RS6 GT Avant will have a limited top speed of 190 mph and will sprint from 0-62 mph in 3.5 seconds.

If true, this would support comments made by Lichte earlier this year: "I promise you, both EVs and ICE will be impressive. Especially the last-generation ICE RS models, they will be [...] mind-blowing." With styling inspired by theRS6 Avant GTO concept, everyone's favorite performance wagon is about to get much better.
