Hardcore Audi RS6 Send-Off Sounds Glorious During Nurburgring Visit

Video /5 Comments

Reports are calling it the RS6 "GT" but that is yet to be confirmed.

Last month, our spiesspottedan upcoming version of theRS6 Avantin action with a wing and a roll cage trawling the curves of the Nurburgring, but we now get to hear what it sounds like attacking the Green Hell in anger. This unnamed variant is believed to be the hardcore swansong of the RS6 we were previously told about when Audi executives toldCarBuzz, "Between now and 2026, you will see thebest internal combustion cars ever." Another source within Audi even said that the next RS6 variant would "blow your f*cking mind." From the sound of the RS6 in the video below, it certainly seems this will be the case.

The video above shows the beastly estate taking on the Green Hell's corners rapidly. It showed excellent stability as it took on turns. Look closely at the video, and you'll spot that its interior sports a roll cage, meaning it hasn't been removed since the last time we saw this car in action.

The wing sticking out from its rear end is glaringly apparent and reminds us of the one found on the sleekly styledRS6 GTO concept. The front and rear bumpers were also revised, giving the vehicle a broader, more muscular look. It appears the front and rear fenders have been widened, too, with the fronts now sporting a slim extraction vent aft of the front wheel.

But perhaps the highlight of this sighting was the car's glorious exhaust note. While the details remain under wraps, we know the twin-turbo V8 will not use plug-in hybrid assistance. It will, however, be more powerful. To do this, it would need to better the 621 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque generated by thecurrent RS6 Performance.

Another detail we are still in the dark on is the name, although some sources are confident it will be called the RS6 GT.

Not to be a Debbie Downer or anything, but we're guessing that the production version of this bonkers ride will be quite expensive. The current Performance variant alreadycosts a pretty pennyat $125,800. There's also the possibility that this one might be a limited-run final version, but that remains to be seen.
