Audi Building One More Q5 Before The SUV Goes Electric

Over the past couple of months, we've seen Audi prove that electric vehicles can be exciting. The German automaker'sRS Q e-tron off-road racer made historythis month by winning a challenging desert rally. Meanwhile, images captured during a winter testing session of the new e-tron Sportback crossover showed that the brand'son-road EVs can be fun to drivetoo.Ken Block's new toy也是一个全电动奥迪那t looks like a hoot to drive, but not all of the brand's cars are going electric just yet. In fact, theAudi Q5is getting one more shot at electrification-free existence and, if these spy shots are anything to go by, it'll be a handsome-looking thing.

This new crossover is reportedly being developed on the same platform asthe new Audi A4. We're expecting the Q5's dimensions to swell slightly in an effort to give passengers more room and practicality. As for styling, this new model appears to be gaining a much sharper design with more angular upright intakes at each end of the front bumper and a tauter Singleframe grille in the center. The triangular lower grille is being carried over, but again with a more clearly defined outline. The headlights will be getting sharper too, while the taillights appear to be getting a more streamlined shape and a slimmer footprint on the rear. The units you see here will be swapped out with the production design in time, but the shape is certainly changing.
