Vietnam's first mass-produced cars are powered by a BMW-sourced 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission producing 173 and 227 horsepower and boast attractive designs that were styled by the legendary design house Italdesign. This means it will most likely go on sale for the 2022 model year in the US. It's also being designed by Italian design house Pininfarina, so it should look stunning. As for technical specifications, VinFast claims the electric crossover will offer up to 500 kilometers (310 miles) of range on a single charge. No name has been confirmed for the Vietnamese manufacturer's first EV, but we're hoping it's more memorable than the LUX A2.0 and LUX SA2.0.

VinFast is already firmly established in Vietnam. In the first quarter of this year, the company sold 5,124 cars in the local market, putting it in fifth place in Vietnam's best-selling car companies and ahead of more established brands such as Mitsubishi, Mazda, and Ford.
